Dr. Antonetti is board certified by the American Board of Surgery and is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons, a member of the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery, the Society of American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons and the South Carolina Medical Association. For more than 20 years, he has provided patients with comprehensive general surgical evaluations and treatments, as well as bariatric surgical care, at Lexington Medical Center in West Columbia, South Carolina. He specializes in minimally invasive surgery, performing more than 400 laparoscopic operations per year.
Background
Originally from New Haven, Connecticut, Dr. Antonetti graduated magna cum laude from Georgetown University in Washington, D.C., with a bachelor’s degree in biology and went on to earn his medical degree there as well. He then completed his residency at the University of Connecticut in Farmington, serving as chief surgical resident. An Air Force veteran, Dr. Antonetti was stationed with the 506th Air Expeditionary Group at Freedom Air Base in Kirkuk, Iraq, in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom and served with the 60th Surgical Operations Squadron at Travis Air Force Base in Fairfield, California.
Leadership
In addition to his clinical practice, Dr. Antonetti has served in various leadership roles at Lexington Medical Center, including chief of General Surgery, medical director of Lexington Surgery and medical director of Epic Optimization. He currently serves as medical director of Perioperative Services and a member of the Robotic Surgery Steering Committee for the health system.
